Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Allison Frank Provence, who was born in 1966 in Los Angeles, California. She is a mother of three, a teacher, and a business owner who currently lives in Colorado. She grew up at a family-owned vacation home at Newport Beach from when she was 2 years old. Their vacation home was located at the Balboa Bay Club, where she met a few well-known figures. During those times, her family owned 3 boats--but the one she chose to share stories about was small family boat, the Itsy Bitsy. During the interview, Allison talks about boat stories, how the Itsy Bitsy was a great way of meeting people, and her time in Newport Beach and Balboa Island. When she lived in Newport, one of her and her friends' goals was to ride a hobie cat, a kind of sailboat that was popular in the 60s and the 70s.
