Article on U.S.-Japanese relations; U. S. anti-immigration law prior to World War II, including the immigration act of 1924; the "Gentlemen's Agreement" regarding immigration policy; relations between Americans of Japanese ancestry and whites in California; and second-generation Japanese Americans. The article was reprinted from "The Japanese American news," San Francisco, January 1, 1929, and "Kokumin shinbun," Tokyo Japan, January 5-7, 1929, and published by California Joint Immigration Committee, San Francisco. The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942.
