Photograph caption dated February 13, 1956 reads, "Dixie Griffin of San Fernando, triple winner in yesterday's SPA AAU sponsored junior women's track and field meet, is about to send javelin on its record flight. Miss Griffin won the javelin throw at Valley Junior College with a toss of 114 feet, 6 7/8 inches for a new meet mark. She also won the basketball throw and the shot put." Los Angeles Valley College is in Van Nuys.
