Description
Baseball in Dixon-Presentation to the Dixon Historical Society. Several important athletes were born and raised in Dixon, CA. The long-time Dixon family the Rohwers, had five baseball playing sons in the late teens and early 1920’s. Two of the brothers, Ray and Claude Rohwer, went on to play semi-pro and National League baseball. Ray played for the Pittsburgh Pirates as outfielder in the early 1920's. His younger brother Claude played shortstop for several minor league teams; the San Francisco Seals, the Charleston Pals, and the Sacramento Seals. This recording by one of the Rohwers non-baseball playing brothers adds to the study of baseball history in California.
