Regimental orderly book contains general orders of Gen. John Sullivan, brigade orders, advertisements, and regimental details. The book covers operations from the beginning of the expedition in late July to its completion in October, including the order congratulating the army on "the reduction of the five Indian nations." The manuscript also contains a records entitled "Occurrences of July 12th 1779 Headquarters Wyoming," "Roll of Capt. Hollingshead Company. Aug. 21, Tioga," and "An Account of the company that drew State Stores, delivered a company Lt. Wilkinson. 22 Aug. 1779." John Hollingshead was Captain of the 2nd New Jersey Regiment that was commanded by Israel Shreve and assigned to the New Jersey Brigade. In July - Sept. 1779, the regiment took part in John Sullivan's campaign against the Six Nations. On Aug. 23, 1779 John Hollingshead was appointed Major of the 3rd New Jersey Regiment. He resigned from the army in 1781.
