The Hotel Vendome is on the left. The main entrance to the hotel is shaded by a striped awning. On the right are trees and in the foreground flowers are in bloom. The hotel was built in 1889 on the 11-acre estate of Josiah Belden, an early mayor of San Jose. At the time it was the most luxurious hotel in San Jose. The hotel was demolished in 1930 and replaced by houses.
