Photograph caption date stamped July 13, 1959 reads, "Elmendorf's Day Court, an invader from New York who sought fame and fortune in the $162,100 Hollywood Gold Cup today, drools at the sight of the famed cup held by exercise boy Gilbert Gay. Day Court tackled Hillsdale and seven other great handicap stars in the mile and a quarter classic."
