Description
Near view of three workers at tray cutting apricots, with John Leonard Cupertino box in foreground. A scale (balance) is visible standing on tray. "These three girls are close neighbors who have worked for us since they started cutting. Such help is a big factor in maintaining high standards in the handling of fruit. Each year we are weeding out those who are below average and have stopped improving. The flat wooden boxes on the tray are for pits. A bread pan partly hidden behind the scales contains the trimmings. Note that no fruit has been dumped on the tray as is commonly done in most driers. Any dirt in or on the box thus stays there instead of being transferred to a tray filled with cut fruit." (BL)
