Sunday in the Octave of the Ascension. Introit "Exaudi Domine". Historiated initial "E" with miniature scene of secular powers - two crowned figures and court - kneeling to the left of an altar, and ecclesiastical powers - pope, two bishops, and cardinals - kneeling to the right of an altar, all in prayer. This Gradual may have been commissioned by, or for, the nobleman depicted. Illuminated border of brushed gold with flowers, berries, insects, a caterpillar, and a bird.
