Description
Two women in garden promenade dress for September 1809. The woman in the background wears a white shawl with gold tassels wrapped around her head. She wears gold earrings and a pale-pink, pearl or bead necklace. Her dress is white and has long sleeves ending with a ruffled cuff. She wears a pair of white gloves and holds a pink parasol with tassels in her hand. The woman in the foreground wears a wide, straw hat decorated with red and white flowers. A wide, white, silk ribbon attaches the hat to her head. She is adorned with gold earrings and a gold brooch which secures a cerulean blue, fringed cloak around her shoulders. Her dress is white with an embellished bodice. White diamonds made from ribbon and beads or pearls line the bodice and waist and create a line down the center front of the dress. The skirt of the overdress is open, revealing the white underdress. Her dress has long sleeves ending with ruffles at the cuffs. The hem is trimmed with three narrow dark stripes. She wears a pair of pale-yellow gloves and pale-yellow shoes. She leans on a cerulean blue parasol with fringe.
