Description
Taken on Aug. 8, 1940, this photograph shows the interior of the Otto Wiesen Jewelry Shop at 1024 10th St. Prior to settling in at the pictured location, Wiesen had stores at 501 1/2 K St., 1013 Eighth St., 1009 K St., 1007 10th St., and 802 J St. In the fall of 1937, Wiesen made a bid for Sacramento City Council, running as an Independent and supporting the policies of City Manager James Dean. He lost. In 1951, he opened a store for both wholesale and retail jewelry. At the time of his death in April 1964, Wiesen was actively operating both stores.
