Description
Photograph of the thirty-six foot refractor telescope inside the Lick Observatory dome on Mount Hamilton, Santa Clara, California, [s.d.]. The cylinder of the massive telescope extends in 21 visible sections of buff metal, terminating at right with the eyepiece obscured by an array of adjustment cranks. More cranks can be seen on the mounting up to which a spiral staircase leads, and from which a secondary arm extends to the main cylinder. The interior of the dome is visible overhead, and just past the mounting, a strip of wood-paneled wall and a closed door are visible. A few large boxes are on the ground at right, below the telescope.
