Description
“On top of the Moukden [Shenyang] city wall” A man and a boy stand in front of the damaged city wall. Manchuria, during this period, suffered some of the worst of the military campaigns and political unrest in China and a number of cities were attacked and set under siege. ❧ Moukden became an important station in the interior and Hospitals, Schools and Orphanages were built there. The United Presbyterian Mission unified with the Irish Presbyterian Mission in 1890 to form an indigenous Presbytery, named Kuan Tung, with Chinese as the official language.
