Description
D.J. Waldie discusses his book, “Where We Are Now: Notes From Los Angeles.” He begins by explaining how the book is a compilation of essays on the meaning of place in Los Angeles. He stresses the importance of building community within Los Angeles and explains his love and dedication to the city of Lakewood. He also explains why he does not drive and how this led him to discover the inadequate state of Southern California’s public transit system. During this interview he reads aloud from his book and finishes with a discussion on how earthquakes can serve as democratic equalizers.
