This photo shows a crowd of "investors" and curious persons gathered in front of the Western Avenue "dollar shop" after the rioting had been halted by Hollywood police officers. Three employees of the place decamped by the back door when the mob surged in. Officers loaded records and equipment of the shop into their cars and took them to the Hollywood police station. In other parts of the county, officers were ordering the "dollar shops" to close. Photo dated: May 22, 1935.
