Description
Eliza D'Aguilar, wife of decorated military man Sir George Charles D'Aguilar, writes a letter to Mrs. Mary Kean. While Eliza begins her letter with the discussion of her son, she mentions the safe arrival of Mary's son to the United States. Eliza discusses her husband's desire to contact Mrs. Kean's son while abroad and goes on to describe the son's good qualities. While Kean's son is not named in the letter, it is probable that Eliza refers to Charles Kean who traveled to the United States around this time. Eliza writes section of letter upside down on the first page. Letter contains handwritten notations, a wax seal, and the watermark of "R & H 1837."
