Description
Two women stand in full dress for May 1799. The woman on the right wears a simple white floor-length empire-waisted dress with short sleeves. She wears a short red cape attached with two red ribbons across the bodice. The cape is hemmed with a gold stripe and there is one gold tassel hanging down her front. She wears flat red shoes and her hair is in an updo with curly bangs and a long ringlet at the back. She wears a gold head band or open turban. There is light detailing, including circles, on the hems of her sleeves. The woman on the left also wears a simple white floor-length empire-waisted dress. She wears a short knee-length blue overdress, which is draped over her right shoulder and under her left arm. It is held in at the waist by a white ribbon and has two white accent stripes at the hem. She wears a blue twisted fabric turban with two standing white feathers, and a white accent at the bottom. She is positioned just slightly behind the woman on the right and faces toward her with her hands tucked behind her back. Neither woman wears jewelry.
