Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of this recording, Rassoul Salem was a Consultant Engineer working with Don Ross. Rassoul was involved with the shoring efforts at the collapsed Cypress Street structure. He was also involved with assisting in the location of the deceased located under the collapsed Cypress structure. After initial efforts at the Cypress Structure, Rassoul was relocated to the San Mateo Bridge to assist in the repairs of earthquake damage to the pilings.
