Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Holy Cross Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Holy Cross and was originally slated to be built in Panorama City. It was eventually built at 15031 Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills and opened in 1961. In 1996 the Sisters of Providence acquired the hospital and renamed it Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. Photograph caption dated March 13, 1965 reads "Mission Hills Chamber of Commerce president Lee Hamer, left, and past president Atus P. Reuther, present a gift and citation to Sister Gerald, S.S.C., center, as Sister Ruth Mary, C.S.C., head nurse at Holy Cross Hospital watches. Sister Gerald received the presentation on behalf of sister Olivia Marie, administrator, who is hospitalized."
