Supplemental material reads: "Chernus -- Long Beach. Pipe smokers convention. three negs., l. to r. shows Mrs. Hugo Gnam, Jr., of Jefferson Valley, New York
Paul Spaniola, 39, pipe smoking champion of the world, lights Mrs. Kay Alderman's pipe. She is from Peekskill, New York. Two women are members of 'Two Women' Pipe Club. One neg. shows Paul Spaniola, 39, father of nine children, the pipe smoking champion of the world. Spaniola kept nine-tenths of an ounce of tabacco burning for 88 minutes, two seconds. He demonstrates his technique".
