Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Pickle.
Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Emery. Date: 1952-05-17. Reporter: Emery to RW. Assignment: Presentation of Posthumous Awards, Long Beach, Long Beach City Hall steps. 30: Captain J.Y. Dannenberg, Commanding Officer, United State Naval Base, Los Angeles, presenting Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 2 gold stars to parents of marine fighter pilot. Parents: William D. and Rose Cochran, 4139 Weik Avenue, Bell. Similar shot , one more man: Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Pickle (correct) commanding officer of Marine barracks, Terminal Island, reading citations accompanying above awards. Catain Dannenberg and parents. (These awards went to the late First Lieutenant Thomas John Cochran, 23, a Marine fighter pilot who lost his life in the 35th combat mission in Korea)".
