Photograph caption dated May 6, 1962 reads "Steve Smith of North Hollywood High School climbs out of pool Friday night after winning city championship in 100-meter freestyle event. Before swim meet was over, Smith also won 50-meter crown with a new city record of 25.7 seconds and Brimingham High School of Van Nuys won the city team championship for second straight year."
