Description
This recording showcases the vast musical heritage found here in California contributed by Headlands' artists. Created by the San Francisco based composer and performer, Beth Custer, in 1987 and 1988 during two residencies at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Vinculum Chamber Concerts were a 3-part project of site-specific comprovisation on clarinets, piano, voice, and toys. Custer's work at the Headlands Center for the Arts led to a Phyllis Wattis Residency at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and a Meet the Composer Commissioning Grant in 1999, where she composed and produced Vinculum Symphony, which was comprised of 32 Bay Area musicians and instrument builders.
