Richard Price discusses his novel, “Clockers.” He begins by explaining that his book looks at how children grow up in impoverished neighborhoods. He talks about crime in ghettos and the different techniques police use to catch drug dealers. He describes how he spent time with both police officers and drug dealers to get information for the book. Price explains that the word ‘clocker’ refers to a small-time drug dealer, who works around the clock to make money. He talks about how he works as a Hollywood screenwriter and was treated differently while researching in New Jersey. Martinson asks Price to read a passage from the book about young kids dealing cocaine.
