Description
Several business fronts are visible in this circa-1924 photograph of K Street. They include the Golden Eagle Hotel (627 K St.), the Bon Marche women's clothing store (631 K St.), the Liberty Theatre (617 K St.), and Heeseman Clothing (619 K St.). The Liberty, which opened in 1915, was known for its unique marquee, complete with flashing bubs and a scaled-down version of the Statue of Liberty, visible to the left of the photograph. The theater was in operation until 1957.
