Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated March 10, 1958 reads, "Fleece weigh-in time - Bulky bundles of wool sheared form Columbia lambs are weighed by Ann Carpenter, 19, of Woodland Hills, and Hans Seyerle, 18, of Northridge, prior to sorting, grading and shipment from Woodland Hills campus. Average wool yield is from 8 to 12 pounds, but large rams will produce as much as 20 pounds. Nearly 150 head of sheep are sheared during two-day school."; See images #001357802 through #00135806 for all photos in this series.
