Here is a view of the still-smoking ruins of La Vina sanitarium with charred trees still standing in the background. As the flames swept over more than 2000 acres, 18 persons were treated for burns and injuries and scores of others were overcome by smoke. The fire destroyed much valuable Mount Lowe watershed.
