Description
Photograph shows Reverend Sky Anderson (left) and a group of men and women celebrating the 8th anniversary of the San Jose Chapter of the United Fellowship Metropolitan Community Church. There is a sheet cake on a table with a lit candle in the shape of the number 8. The group is singing while Reverend Anderson and another man are cutting the cake together.
Written on verso of photograph: "Reverend Sky Anderson, (left), celebrates the 8th anniversary of the San Jose Chapter of United Fellowship Metropolitan Community Church (UFMCC) (1980) Fig. 88." Sky Anderson was pastor of UFMCC in San Jose from 1979 to 1982. He was also active with the "No on 6" campaigners. Proposition 6 was an anti-gay school initiative introduced by Senator John Briggs.
