Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes.
Photograph article dated July 27, 1964 partially reads, "'Usher, when will the movie be over?' 'Candy girl, what can I buy for a penny?' Saturday matinees, a long established tradition at movie houses across the country, is a prime source of revenue for theaters and an excellent method of instilling the movie-going habit in the neighborhood kiddies. It is a three-hour period (depending on the length of the shows) where the housewife can get rid of the kids. It is the part of the week where children, ranging from three to eleven years of age, can delight I the adventures of Godzilla, and laugh at the adventures of Mr. M'Goo. It is a time of frustration, humor, and hysterics for the theater employees." Photograph caption reads, "The line-up - This is the scene outside the Granada Theater in Granada Hills on a typical Saturday as moppets from the neighborhood mob the matinee."
