Description
Construction of the "new" Monterey County Courthouse on West Alisal. The new courthouse was built around the old one. The old courthouse was torn down bit by bit. Part of the Central Grammar School on Alisal is visible at the left of the photograph. Originally Central Grammar School was the high school. John Steinbeck attended this school when it was Salinas High School.
