Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on October 2, 1966 states: "Sixteen miles north of Yreka, right of way for a 3.5 mile section of Interstate 5 is being blasted through steep and rocky terrain. At left, 200 feet below, can be seen the Klamath River and a short stretch of U. S. 99. The freeway is to be completed by Thanksgiving 1967."
