Marin County Parks staff looks over Bothin Marsh in 1974. KSW Properties acquired the Bothin marsh holdings in 1970 and began filling and building. The threat of a larger development-Tam Gateway- prompted the Trust for Public Land to secure a purchase option in 1975. A year later, the bulk of today’s Preserve was acquired for $195,000. An easement across the old railroad right of way (today’s Path) was gained in 1977. Today, the popular Mill Valley-Sausalito Multi-Use Path runs through the Bothin March Preserve.
