Description
The Cliff House, first built in 1858, stands on a cliff in western San Francisco overlooking the famous Seal Rocks. This postcard features the third Cliff House, which opened in 1909, after it was extensively remodeled in 1938. Printed on reverse: Here, looking out toward the Farallones, a Seal Rock House was built in 1858. Five other structures, all called the Cliff House, have been built on this site since then. On sunny days from two to three hundred seals may be seen on the rocks.
