Description
Donald Shane, director of the Lick Observatory, writes to EPH, discussing fields on plates from the 100-inch telescope EPH had sent to Lick. He believes EPH did not examine the richest fields. He identifies the fields, describes the comparisons they did with their own plates, and encloses charts of counts of nebulae found by Nicholas Mayall. They will return the plates if necessary. He understands that EPH has started wok on suspected dwarf nebulae and offers Lick Observatory's assistance in the project. He notes that the reduced prints of the Leo group he mailed might not be useful for EPH, and offers to send the original negative. He appreciates the stimulation obtained from the joint meetings of the two observatories.
