Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "3rd & Kay street. Looking West. Left corner bldg., Milliken Bldg. 2nd bldg on the left, is old Huntington & Hopkins bldg and Standford bros. of the 50's. Old Central Pacific Headquarters. '54 Kay st'. One of the two bldgs. that escaped the fire of 1852. Erected in 1850..."
