Photograph was edited for publication purposes and has several light colored stains. The name of the library was changed from North Hollywood Sidney Lanier Regional Branch to North Hollywood Amelia M. Earhart Regional Branch in 1980. Photograph caption dated September 12, 1961 reads "Couple passed by pile of returned books at Library." The article partially reads "The Admission Day holiday turned out to be a real headache for librarians at the North Hollywood Library, who returned to work Monday morning to find nearly 500 books piled outside their door."
