Scope/Content: Manuscript annotations in printed book.
Scope/Content: Manuscript annotations by an unknown contemporary reader in a 1681 copy of the 2nd London edition of Absalom and Achitophel. Annotations consist of manuscript key to the characters in the poem written on the title page verso and marginal notations on characters' true identities in the margins, as well as the 12 lines omitted from this version (and first printed in the first London quarto edition) written in the margins of pages 6 and 7 and on an inserted leaf following page 8 (written in a different contemporary hand).
Condition: Bound in mottled calf with gilt edges.
