Mountain attends the trial of Frank Forrest Smith, charged of murder during the Southern County robbery. Irwine testifies that she was instrumental in getting the police to the scene of the robbery because during the holdup she was speaking on the telephone with bank bookkeeper Alice Williams.

Text from newspaper caption: Tillie Irwine, left, Times correspondent, who notified police of the attempted robbery of the Southern County Bank at El Monte, January 31, yesterday appeared at the preliminary hearing of Frank F. Smith, one of the asserted bandits. With her are Mrs. Alice Williams, bookkeeper, and F. J. Mountain, manager of the bank.
