Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this photograph was taken in 1915. All other photographs from the "Smith West tour" are dated 1913. The date for this photograph has been provided by the cataloger to reflect this. Photograph of H. H. West's Buick parked along the road in the shade near a water trough in Strawberry. A dirt road spans across the image in the foreground. H. H. West's Buick is parked at right. It is viewed from the side and faces right. The front end of the car extends out of frame. Someone sits in a passenger seat. A water trough sits off the far side of the road, behind and to the left of the car. Signs are tacked to a pine tree that stands over the trough. Pine trees stand in the immediate background. Text from negative sleeve: 1092. Smith West tour 1915. Strawberry. 1. My Buick near the water trough. There were live trout in the trough. 2. Beautiful strawberry. Our cars in the shade. L to R: Mary A West. Mrs Dave Smith. Dave F Smith. We had a fine lunch here and then caught some trout in the stream across the road. 2 films. In the little tool house where we had lunch, was the old hotel register. Went back to Civil War days. Lots of prominent men's names on the register.
