Description
Photograph article dated October 17, 1947 reads, "Cord, a springer spaniel, lies sadly on the ground as Fire Department rescuers try desperately to restore life to Cord's young master, Richard Lane, 5, after the boy and a companion were pulled with grappling hooks from a West Los Angeles reservoir. The boy died upon arrival at a hospital." Note: The second boy was identified as James Lynn Trompetto, 6, who also died upon arrival at the hospital.
