Description
Photograph article dated March 2, 1961 partially reads, "A 47-year-old Pacoima man has written an open letter to the bandit who pointlessly shot him at a service station last week - and, consequently, brought his family to the point of destitution. Gilbert Lines, 47, 12861 Osborne St., sent the letter to the Valley Times TODAY, explaining from his bed in the Canoga Park Hospital he was writing 'so that I could let that bandit know the futility of his actions. All he did was to practically destroy my family.' Lines was shot a week ago Tuesday while closing Buckner's Texaco Station, 20850 Vanowen St., Canoga Park, at about 10 p.m. He told police he suddenly saw the man at the door holding a shotgun. Then, without a word spoken, the bandit fired, hitting Lines in the hip. He fled without getting any money." Pictured are victim's children, from left, Richard, 12; Michael, 13 and Joyce, 17.; See image #00127618 for additional photo in this series.
