Description
B. Inoue, of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd., writes Mr. K. Hopper saying that he is enclosing his opinions and corrections for the "Interview" that Miss Nomura translated into English. He reports that he talked to Mr. Sakamoto and shares Sakamoto's view of Hopper's essay on Japanese management. In the opinions and corrections pages, Inoue says that he was dispatched to Dunlop Rubber Company, Japan, a joint SEI (Sumitomo Electric Industries) and Dunlop venture. Inoue discusses Mr. Akira Totoki's high appraisal of the CCS (Civil Communications Section) seminars. He also discusses the greater involvement of Japanese companies in international business and the increased importance of government-business relations. Inoue shares that SEI was the first to disclose Q. C. circles to the outside. He adds that according to Peter Drucker's work, "The Practice of Mangement," the worker should be given a job in the improvement of work. Inoue comments on his impressions of Professor Vogel's work, "Japan as Number One" and goes on to discuss the training of people, job rotation, teamwork, and the concept of "wa." The letter contains Inoue's signature. The letter also contains original handwritten notes and markings and an original handwritten "33" on the top, right corner of the first page. There is no page 8 of the opinions and corrections pages. Pages 4 through 7 and page 9 of the opinions and corrections pages contain original handwritten page numbers on the top, right corners.
