Description
Patricio Avila, a Mexican miner at the New Almaden mines, was photographed as representative of a typical Mexican miner. Many miners were brought directly from Mexico to New Almaden to work in the mines. Some believed that Mexican miners had particular ability to locate rich veins of ore. Photograph is adhered to glass plate.
