Donald Thorne [sic] won the top mark in the first registered National Rifle Association Pistol Match held on a Valley rifle range. He scored 1,436 points out of a possible 1,500 to win the Grand Aggregate Match. The Angeles Shooting Club in Marek Canyon near Little Tujunga Canyon was the scene of last Sunday's pistol shoot, held and sponsored by the Los Angeles Gun Club. The Los Angeles club's home range has been closed down due to construction and the club will be guest shooting at the Marek Canyon range for the remainder of 1961."
