Artist Paul de Longpre´ (1855-1911) inspects shrub rose blooms as he walks through his gardens with his young daughter Pauline. French born de Longpre´ desired the 65-foot-deep lots for what became his famed flower garden, which at one time included over 4,000 roses. The de Longpre´ garden and residence was located on the west side of Cahuenga Blvd. at Hollywood Blvd. on property obtained from Mrs. Wilcox Beveridge in 1889.
