Image shows view of the Mr. & Mrs. William Ripley Dorr residence, located on Via Arriba on lot 8, block 1436, tract 6884 in Malaga Cove. Image shows Dorr children Roger and Phyllis Dorr sitting on stone steps in the north garden, with stone pathways and lush landscaping. The nine-room, single-story stone tile and stucco home has a slate roof, two chimneys, and large garden. Mr. Dorr (1891-1968), was an accomplished organist, worked at the Hall Organ Company and was choirmaster at St. Lukes Church in Long Beach, as well as dean of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Guild of Organists from 1939-1941. His boy's choir appeared in several motions pictures, among them "Mrs. Parkington" with Greer Garson, "Christmas Holiday" with Deana Durbin, and "Since You Went Away" with Claudette Colbert. The home, which received Palos Verdes Art Jury honorable mention award for the most notable architecture of 1925, was later owned by C.E. Tuttle (1955).
