Photograph caption dated February 15, 1950 reads "General Arthur Easterbrook recuperates at Birmingham." The article partially reads "Five thousand feet above the ground in an airplane is quite a different matter than five feet off the ground picking avocados. For 29 years General Easterbrook flew with the U. S. Air Force and holds two Distinguished Service Crosses, the Purple Heart and the Legion of Merit." The accident left him paralyzed from the waist down.
