Photograph was edited for publication purposes Elisabeth Waldo was born on June 19, 1918 in Yakima, Washington. She is is an authority on pre-Columbian music and an award-winning composer and violinist. Photograph caption dated August 4, 1955 reads "In her Northridge home studio decorated with Latin American appointments, Elizabeth (sic) Waldo displays authentic native instruments used by members of her quartet. Among them are a Brazilian Flute, five-tone scale pipes made of clay and reeds and Panama jungle drums. The costume worn by Miss Waldo is a Spanish Flamenco design."
