Description
This circa 1920 postcard shows the riverboat Fort Sutter at rest on the Sacramento River. Launched in 1912, the vessel served ably through the interwar period. With the advent of the Second World War, it was placed into service for the United States Navy, resulting in its re-coating in gray paint. At war's end, the Fort Sutter never returned to civilian passenger service, becoming a floating restaurant along Three Mile Slough in the Sacramento River Delta.
