Description
This is part two of an event in Pepperdine history known as the "Birth of a College” dinner, which featured the unveiling of the plans for the Malibu campus and a speech by Governor Ronald Reagan. The event was held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles with an overflow crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 9, 1970. This recording features remarks by Pepperdine President M. Norvel Young and Vice President Bill Teague. J. Simon Fluor speaks on behalf of the Independent Colleges Association of Southern California (06:50); architect William Pereira makes a presentation on the design of the Malibu campus (19:20); and Jeb S. Magruder reads a letter on behalf of President Richard Nixon (41:00). 46:17
